Mercedes unveiled a stunning concept car Thursday evening at Pebble Beach that offers a glimpse into the future of high-performance luxury motoring. On display at Monterey Car Week, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 is first concept car to carry the Maybach name since the historic ultra-luxury moniker was resurrected last year.
"Our sensational coupe, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6, represents the ultimate in contemporary luxury. It is hot and cool," Mercedes-Benz design boss Gorden Wagener said in a statement. "With its intelligent appeal and reduced, technoid look, it perfectly embodies our design philosophy of sensual purity and our pursuit of aerodynamic efficiency."
As incredible as the Vision looks, it's even more impressive that the 18.5 feet-long concept is designed to operate purely on electric propulsion. This is the most recent salvo from Germany's auto giants in a bid to take on Tesla's lineup of high performance electric cars. Since last year, Audi, BMW, and Porsche have all introduced advanced electric concepts.
